Seniors were awarded local scholarships in the annual Scholarship Ceremony held on Tuesday, May 5 totalling $70,000.
Aleena Rodriguez received the Abundantly Well Organics Scholarship. Ray Stramecki received the Andy Thornton Memorial Scholarship. Aileen Guerrero received the Bob Wallace Jr Memorial Scholarship. Maci LeBoeuf received the Catholic Daughters of America. Bryan Chavez received the Cecil and Narceille Vaden Moeller Memorial Scholarship. Koby Jones, Rilynne Ortego, and Reid Todd received the Chambers County Youth Baseball Scholarship. Allison Altamirano received the CJB Memorial Scholarship.
“I was genuinely surprised and grateful to hear that I received the CJB Memorial scholarship,” Altamirano said. “I plan on using my scholarship funds to invest in my education and career.”
Christian Davis, Jayda Leday, and Zach Richey all received the Coach Tommy Leday Memorial Scholarship. Lane Jones received the Cornerstone Men’s Ministry Scholarship. Camila Gurrola, Kaitlyn Ortiz, and Zach Richey all received the CWD Memorial Scholarship. Meyly Heng received the East Chambers Classroom Teachers Association Scholarship. Hayden LeVeck received the East Chambers Veterans Memorial Scholarship. Bryce Guillory, Kaydence Pinson and Zoe Selby all received the EC Youth Football League Scholarship. Koby Jones received the Elizabeth Ann Memorial Scholarship.
Alexa Francisco, Agustin Granados, Dakota Matthews, and Kaydence Pinson all received the Foundation of Excellence Scholarship sponsored by the Holly Cravy Realty Group. “I was happy to receive any scholarship, but it felt even more special because it came from Mrs. Cravy,” Francisco said. “I hope to use that money and any other scholarships I receive to pay my tuition at SFA.”
“I am so happy to have received the Foundation of Excellence Scholarship,” Granados said. “I’m excited to represent them while in college.”
Zach Richey received the Go Gibson Travel Scholarship. Bryan Chavez, Christian Davis, Bryce Guillory, Luke Hampton, Gage Howard, Jayda Leday, Irma Matehuala, Jessie Moore, Christian Moreno, Alia Santana, and Dennys Vargas all received the GP Tax Service Scholarship. Danica Burrell received the Mac’s Roofing Scholarship. Tyrus Bordelon, Bryan Chavez, Jason Janak, Emily Lopez, Kaydence Pinson, Tyler Stevens, Ray Stramecki, and Reid Todd all received the Mouton Legacy Scholarship. Hayden LeVeck received the Go Gibson at Winnie Dodge Scholarship.
Christian Davis, Bryce Guillory, Jayda Leday, and Gracie McDaniel all received the Gulf Coast Little Dribblers Scholarship. Kaydince Hebert received the Hanf and Burkhalter Memorial Scholarship. Rilynne Ortego received the JBS Scholarship for Heros. Rilynne Ortego and Delilah Perez received the Rilynne Joe and Cathy Abalos Memorial Scholarship. Mckinzie Tinkle received the Kyle David White Memorial Scholarship. Kally Caudillo and Cecelia Gibson received the Lions Club Scholarship.
“I’m grateful to all of the organizations who gave us scholarships,” Gibson said. “It’s nice to know that our community is behind us as we go into the next stage of our life.”
Christian Davis, Luke Hampton, Gage Howard, Tyler Stevens, Ray Stramecki, and Reid Todd all received the Noon Optimist Carl Treece Memorial Scholarship. Christian Davis and Irma Matehuala both received the St. Louis Catholic Church Scholarship. Hallie Burford, Maci LeBoeuf, and Jayda Leday all received the St. Martin’s Knights of Columbus Scholarship. Ray Stramecki received the Taylor Martin Memorial Scholarship. Christian Moreno received the Texas Health & Fitness Scholarship. Jayda Leday and Zach Richey both received the Todd East Memorial Scholarship. Dakota Matthews received the Vincent Memorial Scholarship Grant. Catherine Lara received the William Cade “Bill” White Vocational Scholarship. Alia Santana received the Winnie-Stowell Masonic Lodge #1377 Scholarship. Tyler Stevens, Gage Howard, and Luke Hampton all received the Yale Devillier Ag Memorial Scholarship.
The senior class of ’26 will graduate on Friday, May 22 at East Chambers High School.
