Academic UIL students competed in the EC-hosted District CX Debate meet on Thursday, Feb. 5 under the direction of Coach Corey Smith.
Juniors Christian Carter and Kullen Spencer placed 2nd, qualifying for the State CX Debate Tournament. Carter also earned the Top Speaker Award.
“Although it took hard work, I’m excited for this opportunity,” Carter said. “I look forward to debating at the University of Texas.”
Freshmen Kalyssa Fontenot and Benjamin Carter placed 4th, while Zoie Bourque and Sebastian Perez placed 5th. Additionally, Carter Rodriguez and Carter Spencer placed 6th.
The state competition will be held in March at the University of Texas in Austin.
