District-18 boys soccer player awards were announced on Tuesday, April 7. Junior Anthony Gomez was named All-District Goal Keeper of the Year. Senior Ricardo Lopez was named team MVP. Senior Bryan Chavez was named 1st Team All-District in addition to sophomores Adan Garcia and Max Vargas. Senior Jose Rufino was named 2nd Team All-District in addition to juniors Mario Herrera and David Lopez . Honorable Mentions were seniors Leonel Turrubiarte and Hector Torres as well as freshman Xabi Morales.
“I feel proud and grateful to be recognized for my hard work especially for my senior year,” Lopez said. “I can’t wait to finish off the year at the All-Star game with Bryan.”
Girl soccer player awards were announced Wednesday, April 8 as well. Senior Aleena Rodriguez was named 1st Team All-District. Junior Jimena Vargas was named 2nd Team All-District. Honorable Mentions were Julieta Martinez, Estrella Narciso, Arely Santana, and Mishel Hernandez.
“I am incredibly grateful and give all glory to God as I would not have had this amazing opportunity without His grace,” Rodriguez said. “Being selected for 1st Team All-District is such a blessing, and I’m so thankful for this perfect way to wrap up my senior year.”
Soccer athletes will be recognized at the athletic banquet on Tuesday, May 12.
