The varsity cheerleaders traveled to Fort Worth to compete in the UIL Spirit State Competition on Thursday, Jan. 15.
“We are so incredibly proud of our East Chambers Varsity Cheerleaders, Coach MaKayla Parden. “They gave it their all yesterday and made their coaches and community proud. They worked hard all season, pushed themselves outside of their comfort zones, and showed tremendous growth. The growth these athletes showed this year speaks volumes about their character. Progress is not always measured by a score, and this team has so much to be proud of.”
The team placed 22nd out of a total of 57 other teams.
“When I stepped off the mat, I felt like the team executed the routine as best as we could,” junior Halleigh Hanna. “I felt proud of our performance.”
The varsity girls will cheer at the home boy’s basketball game against Anahuac on Friday, Jan. 24.
