Freshman Kalyssa Fontenot competed at the 4A TISCA (Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association) North Zone swim meet in Fort Worth on Dec. 6-7.
Fontenot swam the 50 freestyle in the first seed at 26.09 seconds and 100 breaststroke in the 2nd seed at 1:16.80. She achieved two new personal bests at the Sunday finals, where she placed 1st in freestyle at 26.02 seconds and 2nd in breaststroke at 1:14.27 minutes.
“Swimming is my life. I’ve been doing it since I was 6 years old. I got really good at it when I was 10,” Fontenot said. “My favorite part about it is either pushing myself past my limits to get a better result, or winning. My goal is to make it to state in the future.”
The swim team will be competing again in Baytown’s ‘Sleigh in the Bay’ on Saturday, Dec 13.
