Cross Country teams swept District at Anahuac on Wednesday, Oct. 8 under the direction of Coach Todd Sutherland.
All teams won 1st place including Boys Varsity, Girls Varsity (for the 10th consecutive year), JV Boys, JV Girls, JH Boys, and JH Girls.
For the Varsity boys, senior Agustin Granados placed 2nd, senior Jose Rufino placed 6th, senior Cristian Moreno placed 8th, freshman Xavi Martinez placed 11th, and sophomore Drew Frederick placed 16th all advancing to Regionals.
“I felt good because I got a medal and I placed,” Moreno said. “I am excited to compete at Regionals.”
For the JV boys, junior Bruno Bove placed 1st, freshman Max Vratis placed 2nd, junior Mario Herrera placed 4th, freshman Xabi Morales placed 5th, junior Omar Huizar placed 6th, freshman Juan Orduna placed 8th, and freshman Ben Carter placed 9th.
For the Varsity girls, junior Karen Hernandez placed 2nd, freshman Kaylssa Fontenot placed 4th, sophomore Giselle Santana, freshman Parker Williams, junior Mikeala Quave, and sophomore Andie Richard placed 15th all advancing to Regionals.
“I was super happy when I got second place at the meet,” Hernandez said. “I thought I was going to get third, but I managed to pass up the girl next to me at the last second.”
For the JV girls, freshman Kenley Jordan placed 1st, junior Marili Velasquez placed 2nd, junior Jadynn Smith placed 3rd, sophomore Isabella Cuellar placed 6th, freshman Romina Davila placed 8th, and junior Sherlyn Vargas placed 9th.
The Cross Country teams will leave for Regionals on Sunday, Oct 19, which will take place in Huntsville, where the Bucs hope to advance to State.
