The swim team competed at Regionals Jan. 30–31 at Lamar High School, in Houston, under the direction of Coach Leslie Todd.
Senior Hayden LeVeck advanced to State in his respective race, winning 1st place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.41, a personal best while senior Koby Jones placed 5th. LeVeck also advanced to State in the 200-yard freestyle with another 1st place win.
Sophomore Drew Frederick placed 5th in the 100-yard butterfly, and junior Chip Franklin placed 4th place in the 100-yard breaststroke. In the 50-yard freestyle event, Franklin placed 2nd advancing to State while senior Reid Todd placed 3rd.
The 200-yard freestyle relay advanced to State with a 2nd place win including LeVeck, Franklin, Todd, and Frederick.
The 400-yard freestyle relay also advanced to State placing 1st with LeVeck, Frederick, Jones, and Franklin.
“I was blessed with this opportunity by the grace of God and had an amazing day in the pool,” LeVeck said. “I was able to earn three gold medals and achieve personal bests in all my events.”
The 200-yard medley relay advanced to State, as well, after finishing 2nd with Todd, Franklin, Frederick, and Jones.
The boys’ team placed 3rd overall in the 4A division.
On the girls’ side, freshman Kalyssa Fontenot won 1st place in the 200-yard freestyle while sophomore Jayla Coffey placed 7th in the 50-yard freestyle.
Fontenot also advanced to State in the 100-yard butterfly with a 2nd place finish while Coffey placed 5th.
“I could not be more proud of this crew,” Leslie Todd said. “They work so hard balancing multiple activities and late night drives to the pool.”
State qualifiers will compete Feb. 12-13 in San Antonio; fans can watch live on the NFHS Sports site.
