The One Act Play cast earned 1st place in their District Competition on Saturday, March 14 under the leadership of Director Carson Reddell. The cast earned four different awards for their performance of “Art is Useless When You’re Being Mauled by a Bear.”
Junior Lennon Trove earned All-Star Cast for her role of Nid, and senior Cecelia Gibson received the first Best Performer award for playing her role of Finn.
“At first, I was in disbelief. I didn’t think it was me until Melissa hit my arm,” Gibson said. “Everyone was telling me I would get it. I didn’t want to jinx it, so I assumed I didn’t.”
Junior Rylan Fontenot received a Best Tech award, and sophomore Kyler Thrash received the second Best Performer award for playing her role of Kyt.
“I really didn’t think I was going to get the second award. I was disappointed, but super excited for Cece,” Thrash said. “My jaw dropped when we both got Best Performer because that almost never happens in One Act Play.”
The OAP members will compete in the Bi-District Competition, hosted by East Chambers, on Saturday, March 28.
