The Runnin’ Bucs beat the Kountze Lions on Friday, Jan. 16. The basketball boys ended the half at 38-8, and the final score was 89-38. The top scoring players were senior Dayvon Wallace with 32 points, Cameron Dillard with 24 points and Evan Callahan with 11 points. During the game, Dillard reached a personal achievement of scoring over 1,000 points in his high school career.
“I knew that I was close to 1,000 points, but I was surprised by the banner from my parents,” Dillard said. “My teammates were super excited for me, too. I’m glad that all my hard work has paid off.”
This game brings the varsity boys’ record to 20-5 and 4-1 in District. Their next game will be in Buna, against the Cougars, on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
