The varsity football team beat the Anahuac Panthers on Friday, Oct 10 with a final score of 35-21.
Junior Ethan West caught senior quarterback JD Zurby’s throw for an 85-yard touchdown in the first half of the game.
“I was happy that Ethan caught the throw,” Zurby said. “It was a big momentum shift in the game.”
Earius Caeser, junior running-back, ran for a touchdown in the second half which was handed off by Zurby.
“I felt good because it was my 2nd game of the season,” Caesar said. “My touchdown gave us a 14-point lead.”
Zurby ran the ball for the final touchdown to secure a win. The Bucs are now tied for 2nd in District with Orangefield at 2-1, and they are 5-1 overall on the season.
Next week’s Homecoming game will take place on Friday, Oct. 17 against the Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans, who are 0-2 in District.
