
Student Congress Debate members made their mark at West Hardin’s practice tournament, on Sept. 13, under the direction of UIL Coach Corey Smith.
Acting as Top Presiding Officer overall, sophomore Ace Henley placed 2nd in his room, sophomore Abbie Bourque placed 5th and was named Top Novice in her room, sophomore Kyler Thrash placed 5th in her room, and freshman Carter Rodriguez placed 5th in his room while being named Top Novice.
“When I got the award of Top Novice, I was very proud of my work,” Bourque said. “At first, I was really nervous, but as the round went on, I gained more confidence in my skills.”
Their next practice meet will take place in Nederland on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
