
Under the direction of Head Coach Russ Sutherland, varsity football played against Hardin Jefferson on Friday, Sept 5 in 12 News’s “Game of the Week”.
With a score of 21-19, the Bucs are now 2-0.
In the first quarter, junior wide receiver Colby West scored the first touchdown from quarterback Justus Zurby’s pass.
Just before halftime, fullback Darius Edmonson scored a touchdown, securing a score of 14-7 rounding out the second quarter.
“It felt amazing to be able to contribute to my team,” Edmonson said. “I am ready to go out and play some more Buccaneer ball this Friday.”
With two minutes on the clock, junior defensive cornerback Earius Cesar forced the game winning fumble.
“I didn’t play last week, so I had to make a play for my team,” Cesar said. “In the third down, I couldn’t let them get a field goal, so when I made the game-winning fumble happen, I was so hyped.”
The Buccaneers will travel to Liberty to battle the Panthers on Friday, Sept 12 for the final pre-district game.
